It has changed my perception of my future

I am a convicted felon, former drug addict, and halfway through a ten year prison sentence. Before my incarceration, I was a loving father and a proud veteran of the United States Navy- where honor, loyalty and pride had genuine meaning.

Through addiction and poor choices, I lost my self-worth. When I arrived to prison, I was lost and hopeless. For several years, my days were long and meaningless.

Working for the Hometown Hero Project has been the most rewarding time I have spent in recent years. The professional and friendly staff helps me to set goals, and provide training in a real world environment that will be essential to my re-entry to society.

I can truly say that it has changed my perception of the future and gives every day a meaning and purpose. They have helped me regain my self-respect by giving me a real world work environment where I show up every day and give it my best effort. I leave at the end of the day feeling good about myself and the goals I have achieved.

I will be forever grateful for this opportunity has provided me with. I highly recommend the chance to any inmate serious about staying out of prison and building productive future for themselves.
